聞如是：

> Thus have I heard:

一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。

> Once, the Buddha was staying in the Jeta Grove, in the garden of Anathapindika, near the city of Shravasti.

爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「我恒觀見一人心中所念之事，如屈伸臂頃而生天上。所以然者，由善心故；已生善心，便生天上。」

> At that time, the World-Honored One addressed the monks, saying: "I always observe the thoughts in a person's mind, and in the span of a single arm's bend or stretch, they may be reborn in heaven. Why is this so? Because of a wholesome mind; having given rise to a wholesome mind, they are reborn in heaven."

爾時，世尊便說偈言：

> At that time, the World-Honored One spoke this verse:

「設復有一人， 而生善妙心，今告諸比丘， 廣演其義趣。今正是其時， 設有命終者，便得生天上， 由心善行故。

> If there is a person who nurtures a pure and virtuous mind, I now tell the monks, I shall explain its full meaning. This is the right moment—if someone passes away, They will be reborn in heaven, because of the goodness of their heart.

「是故，諸比丘！當發淨意，勿生穢行。如是，諸比丘！當作是學。」

> "Therefore, O monks, cultivate a pure mind and avoid impure actions. Thus, O monks, you should train yourselves accordingly."

爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。

> At that time, all the monks heard what the Buddha had taught, rejoiced, and faithfully put it into practice.
