Great is the nature of awakening, encompassing all ten directions. Demons and Buddhas walk together; form and mind interpenetrate. All that is seen becomes delusion; even silence remains halfway. When not a single mark remains, all phenomena respond in unison. Thus, the Bhagavat dwells at the source of the sacred and the ordinary, shaking the great framework of practice and realization. Manjusri inquires into the origin of arising, Samantabhadra seeks guidance on illusory practice. Clearly revealing perfect illumination, sweeping away all doubts and confusion.
**Chapter on Universal Vision** The three trainings support each other; though contemplation is complete, gradual assistance is needed. Vajragarbha teaches that sentient beings are originally Buddhas, yet gold mixed with ore must still be refined. Maitreya traces the source of cyclic existence and attachment, while Pure Wisdom examines the stages of cultivation and realization. The methods that follow are not fixed but encompass all, possessing three majestic virtues: hearing, practice, and embodiment, contemplation and cultivation. Sound of Eloquence reveals the interplay of meditative concentrations. Realization awakens to the clinging to marks of enlightenment, repaying pure karma to eliminate it. The root faults of forcing, suppressing, indulging, and extinguishing are shown by Universal Enlightenment in choosing a spiritual friend. Perfect Enlightenment sets forth the three periods as a guide, and Virtuous Leader upholds the five eyes to propagate it. Like flowers strung together, like golden sound and jade vibration— to establish benefit for the Dharma, why not elucidate its meaning? Following the Tiantai school, exploring Guifeng’s commentaries, gathering their essence, supplementing with earlier teachings, may we, through words, transcend words, and like forgetting the finger once the moon is seen, attain understanding.
