> Chapter 299

如是我聞：

> This is what I heard:

一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。時有天子名曰釋迦，光色倍常，於其夜中，來詣佛所，身光暉曜，遍照祇洹，赫然大明，頂禮佛足，却坐一面，而說偈言：

> Once, the Buddha was staying at the Jeta Grove in the garden of Anāthapiṇḍika in Śrāvastī. At that time, there was a deva named Śakya, whose radiance was exceptionally brilliant. In the middle of the night, he came to where the Buddha was. His body shone brightly, illuminating the entire Jeta Grove with a dazzling light. He bowed at the Buddha’s feet, stepped back, and sat to one side, then spoke these verses:

「斷於一切結， 當捨眾事務，若有教授他， 不名善沙門。」

> "Cut off all attachments, Let go of all affairs; If you still teach others, You are not a true monk."

爾時，世尊以偈答曰：

> At that time, the World-Honored One replied in verse:

「夜叉應當知， 諸種苦惱逼，智者宜悲愍， 說法而教導。不應放捨彼， 墜墮於苦道，羅漢懷慈慧， 救拔無過咎。」

> "Yaksha, you should know, All kinds of suffering press upon them. The wise should have compassion, Teaching and guiding them with the Dharma. Do not abandon them, Letting them fall into the path of suffering. An Arhat, with compassionate wisdom, Saves and uplifts them—this is no fault."

時釋迦天子聞佛所說，歡喜頂禮，還于天宮。

> At that moment, the heavenly being Shakyadeva, having heard the Buddha’s teaching, rejoiced, bowed in reverence, and returned to the heavenly palace.
