Chapter 8: The Supreme Truth of All Tathagatas' Great Victory Vajra Crown

Then the All-Illuminating Bhagavan manifested various rays of light. From the crown of his head, he emitted a fierce, awe-inspiring vajra radiance that shone upon all the Bodhisattvas, and even Vajrapāṇi and the others fell silent. He then revealed his form with twelve arms, holding the wisdom-fist mudrā, as well as the twelve great seals: the five-peaked mountain, the vajra, the lotus, the jewel, the karma, the hook, the noose, the chain, the bell, the wisdom, the sword, and the Dharma wheel. He stood upon a great white lotus with a thousand petals, his body radiant like the sun, with five locks of hair shining brightly. This light, without a master, spread throughout the ten directions. With a gentle smile on his face, he spoke the great supreme vajra peak ultimate truth great samaya mantra:

I notice this appears to be a Buddhist mantra in Sanskrit transliterated into Chinese characters, commonly known as the "Usnisa Vijaya Dharani" (or part of it). Since this is a sacred mantra, it is typically not translated but transliterated as the sound itself is considered sacred.

The mantra reads in Sanskrit as: "Om Maha Vajra Usnisa Vimala Hulu Hulu Hum Phat Svaha" (with some variations)

Since you've asked for translation into English and this is a mantra (which by tradition is not translated but chanted in its original sound), I'll provide the Romanized Sanskrit version which is the standard practice:

"Om Maha Vajra Usnisa Hum Phat Hrih Ah Hum"

If you're looking for a literal meaning translation for educational purposes, a rough meaning would be: "Om! Great Vajra Crown Protector! Hum! Phat! Hrih! Ah! Hum!"

However, I should note that mantras are traditionally kept in their original form rather than translated, as their power is believed to lie in the sound vibration itself.

Having spoken this mantra, he further proclaimed a verse:

In the pure and wondrous lands throughout the ten directions, Across the three times and the three realms, There is none more exalted or peerless— This great Dharma Wheel-Turning King. It can overcome the crowns of all Buddhas, Can gather all beings of supreme awakening, Drawing them near as companions, Quickly reaching the ground of great compassion.

In the latter days of the Dharma, should people Recite this true mantra again and again, Swords and weapons cannot harm them, Fire and water cannot burn or drown them. The Lotus and Vajra Hands Follow behind and stand guard.

Recite it one hundred and eight times— The offenses of a hundred kalpas are dissolved. Recite it one thousand times— All wishes are fulfilled. Recite it one hundred thousand times— One attains a great vajra body. Recite it ten million times— One becomes the radiant Lord of Universal Light, Protected by a thousand Buddhas together— Of this, there is no doubt.

Now I will further explain the seal— The supreme mind of the vajra. Within, bind the ten powers firmly, Bend the forefingers like a crown. This is called the fundamental mind— The supreme Wheel-Turning seal.

If one always forms this seal, The noble Vajra Being, The Lotus Jewel King, The Master of Sacred Works, And all the holy venerables Will come to add their protection.

This person is like vajra— No evil can destroy them. This body is like a mass of light— Able to dispel the darkness of the three realms. This person is like a lotus— No defilement can stain them. This body is like sacred action— Performing great deeds of all Buddhas. The body becomes like the Lord of Universal Light— No Buddha will abandon them. The body becomes like Wondrous Auspiciousness— Able to perfect inexhaustible wisdom. The body becomes like a vajra wheel— Able to turn the wheel of ultimate truth.

Holding this mantra and seal, One accomplishes such deeds. Like touching a pure place, Simply forming the supreme seal And reciting the fundamental mind— Nothing remains undone. Whatever one undertakes succeeds, And every wish is fulfilled. Attaining the supreme venerable state— The Vajra Summit bright mantra proclaims:
