Chapter 12: The Great Vajra Blazing Mouth Subdues All Demonic Enemies
At that time, the World-Honored One, observing all sentient beings of little merit in future ages, entered the Samadhi of Great Compassion and spoke this verse:
There is a Buddha named Vajra, A mighty yaksha who devours, All evil beings, And even lifeless things. The evils of the three times— Filthy touches, defiling desires— May they swiftly be eradicated, Devoured without remainder. O Vajrasattva, Listen with single mind to this mantra, And spread it wide to all beings. The Vajra Mantra of Extinction says:

This is called the Vajra Food, the lord that subdues all obstacles. Bodhisattvas manifest as gods, and righteous deeds yield their fruits. Recite this one thousand eight times, and with harmony it will embrace you— Throughout the three thousand worlds, up to the highest realms of existence. If you empower a man or woman, you can invoke possession, And all matters of the three times and three realms will be known, whether good or ill. If you recite one hundred thousand times, you can make the gods of the three realms Answer swiftly all questions of fortune, and possession will quickly come. If you wish to partake of impure touches, first recite the mantra seven times, Then eat those touched things, and all will be made pure. If you wish to counteract poison in food given to another, recite the mantra twenty-one times, Cast the seal upon their vessel—it becomes like Garuda, Devouring all serpent poisons. Or visualize yourself as the deity, Or seal yourself as the deity—either way, the poison is contained. If you wish to inspire love and respect, cast the seal toward them from afar, Or imagine striking them with the seal—they will submit like servants. If you create a mandala, whether drawn or visualized, Visualize the single syllable Hūṃ becoming a great karma wheel, Radiant with golden flames. Then in the navel center, Divide into five parts, visualizing five great moon disks— On each disk, place five deities, totaling twenty-five. Use the Vajra Realm syllables, arranging the karma seals, Placed at the four corners of the wheel, emitting lights of various colors. At each corner, four wrathful ones—sixteen guardians in all, Each holding a five-pronged vajra, striding with vajra steps, All born from the syllable Hūṃ, their bodies colored in four directions. In the very center, the Buddha sits; at the four corners, inner offerings. Then to the four sides, before them, place two deities left and right— These are the four like hooks, and the four like incense and flowers. Then behind, facing them, place the auspicious victory banner, With various jeweled nets, silk garments, pearl garlands, and flowers, Wheels, bells, whisks, conch shells, goddesses making music— All these arrangements arise from the syllable Hūṃ. Using the aforementioned accomplishment mantra, recite once after arranging, And it becomes real, firm as vajra. The practitioner himself becomes the Buddha, seated in the navel of the wheel, Never ceasing through the four periods, reciting until three hundred thousand— Following this visualization practice, speedily attain the deity's body. If there are evil people, yaksha lords, rākṣasas, Wind, rain, dragons, mountain spirits, the seven mothers, all the stars, Sea gods, river gods, Śakra, Brahmā, sun and moon gods, Vajra Vighnāntaka, and all beings of the three realms— All abide by this visualization. Those who see such a one as a true person Will bow in reverence, offer what they can, receive instruction, and await commands. Furthermore, O Vajrapāṇi, I will now teach the seal: The ring, middle, and little fingers interlocking inward form the "fangs," The index and thumb curved like a hook, Shaped like a smiling eye—this is called the root seal, Also called the root mind. For protection, offering, Pacifying, and the four rites—all are done with this seal. I will now teach more deeply: the form of Vajra Yakṣa, Six arms holding various implements—bow, arrow, sword, wheel, seal— And the Satva karma. Five eyes blazing with wrath, Three heads with a horse-king topknot, adorned with jewels everywhere. All other holy deities should be drawn as in the Vajra Realm. If you wish to cure various illnesses, utter sixteen Hūṃs, Bind that vajra karma, with the bearing of one holding a vajra. Speak aloud your pledge, and they all obey your command: Move the great sea and Mount Sumeru, bring down the gods of the three realms, Open the evil destinies and release those bound—all deeds will succeed as you wish. If you desire the elixir of immortality, or to reach the Land of Bliss, Or the palace of the Tuṣita heaven—you may go as you please. O Vajrasattva, I will further explain possession: Take a pure boy or girl, bathe them and dress them in fresh clean clothes, Have them vow as a Satva, place white flowers upon them, Empower them to cover the face, then add one thousand eight more recitations— Then possession will occur. That body may rise into the air, And all matters of the three times will be known to them as wise ones. I speak the secret verses—listen well, all of you: The "Tika" and other five rites—the secret verses speak the mantra. "Perfect peace, great compassion, eternal"—this is the pacifying verse. "Refuge and lotus"—this is the enriching verse. "Wrathful destroyer's call"—this is the subduing verse. "Love and reverence to Gatā"—vajra hook, summoning— These are the five kinds of secrets, the vajra speech yoga. For those in the future who do not rely on a teacher, Who slight this Dharma, proclaiming their own will as their teacher's, Deluded about the Ācārya, arrogant, proud, and self-important— I speak the one-syllable heart, the most secret of secrets. This is called the supreme secret: vajra body, speech, and mind. The great compassionate body of all Buddhas abides always in this syllable. Recite it once anywhere, and all great bodhisattvas, All gods and humans, will bow to that person. Whatever practices were described before, or reciting this secret word— Everything will swiftly succeed, with inconceivable power. O Vajrasattva, this is the most profound secret. Do not casually transmit it to others—entrust it only to the wise.
Om! Crush the obstacles! Destroy all hindrances! Shatter the darkness! With overwhelming force— So be it!
