The *Compendium of the Three Treatises* is a Buddhist treatise composed by the eminent monk Jizang of the Sui dynasty. As the de facto founder of the Three Treatises School, Jizang systematically elucidated the Mahāyāna Madhyamaka thought amidst the flourishing development of Buddhist doctrinal studies during the Sui and Tang periods. This work succinctly expounds the core theories of Madhyamaka, such as the Two Truths and the Eight Negations, refuting erroneous views and illuminating the principle of the emptiness of all dharmas. It is not only an essential introductory text for the Three Treatises School but also an authoritative document for the study of the Chinese Buddhist Madhyamaka tradition. It exerted a profound influence on later schools such as Chan and holds a significant position in the history of Chinese Buddhist thought.
