Jizang (549–623) was a prominent Buddhist monk and scholar of the Sui and early Tang dynasties. He is renowned for his extensive commentaries on Mahayana sutras, particularly his works on the Madhyamaka (Middle Way) philosophy, such as the *Jie Shen Mi Jing Shu* (Commentary on the *Samdhinirmocana Sutra*).
