The *Fahua Tonglüe* is a commentary on the *Saddharmapuṇḍarīka Sūtra* composed by the eminent monk Jizang of the Sui and Tang dynasties in China. As the synthesizer of the Sanlun (Three Treatises) school, this work emerged against the backdrop of the flourishing Buddhist doctrinal studies during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, a period marked by numerous masters competitively annotating the *Lotus Sutra*. Its primary content involves the systematic elucidation of the profound principles of the *Lotus Sutra* by applying the Prajñā thought of the Madhyamaka school and the core doctrines of the Sanlun school, such as the Two Truths and the Eightfold Negation of the Middle Way. It particularly emphasizes harmonizing the various sutras, classifying and interpreting the teachings, and revealing the true realm of the One Vehicle and Buddhahood. This commentary represents the authoritative Sanlun school interpretation of the *Lotus Sutra*. It holds a significant position in the history of Buddhist thought and is a key text for studying the development of Chinese Buddhist sectarian thought and *Lotus Sutra* studies.
