Jizang was a great monk of the Sui Dynasty and the de facto founder of the Chinese Buddhist Three Treatise School. *The Meaning of the Two Truths* is his important treatise elucidating the core Buddhist doctrine of the two truths. This work systematically discusses the dialectical relationship between conventional truth and ultimate truth, emphasizing that the two truths are teachings expressed in language rather than objective principles, and that they dismantle erroneous views to reveal the correct, thereby manifesting the true reality of the Middle Way. Inheriting and developing the thought of the Indian Madhyamaka school while integrating characteristics of Chinese Buddhism, this work profoundly influenced the development of Buddhist philosophy during the Sui and Tang dynasties. It served as a crucial theoretical foundation for the establishment of the Three Treatise School and holds a lofty position in the history of Chinese Buddhist thought.
