The "Sutra on the Names of the Eight Great Sacred Stupas" translated by the Dharma Master Tianxizai (Faxian) during the Northern Song Dynasty is a scripture that records the eight great sacred sites of the Buddha's life. This sutra enumerates the locations of the eight great stupas and the corresponding significant events in the Buddha's life, such as the birthplace at Lumbinī and the enlightenment site at Bodh Gayā. These sacred places have become central sites for Buddhist pilgrimage and veneration. This scripture not only guides the direction of practice but also reinforces the historical authenticity of the Buddha's life and teachings. It holds a revered position in Chinese Buddhism and serves as an important reference for understanding Buddhist sacred site culture and the biography of the Buddha.

「淨飯王都迦毘城, 龍彌儞園佛生處;
摩伽陀泥連河側, 菩提樹下成正覺;
迦尸國波羅柰城, 轉大法輪十二行;
舍衛大城祇園內, 遍滿三界現神通;
桑迦尸國曲女城, 忉利天宮而降下;
王舍大城僧分別, 如來善化行慈悲;
廣嚴大城靈塔中, 如來思念壽量處;
