The *Vinaya Commentary and Continuation* is an important commentary on the Southern Mountain Vinaya texts, originally composed by the eminent Tang Dynasty Vinaya master Daoxuan and later supplemented by the Qing Dynasty Vinaya monk Duti. Based on Daoxuan's *Abridged and Supplemented Guide to the Four-Part Vinaya Practices*, this work provides an in-depth explanation of the observance and practice of Buddhist precepts. Its content covers monastic regulations, the application and exceptions of precepts, and detailed guidelines for daily conduct, systematically summarizing the Vinaya thought of Chinese Buddhism. As a core text of the Southern Mountain Vinaya school, this book holds a revered position in the history of Chinese Buddhism. It serves as an authoritative guide for the study and practice of Buddhist precepts and has profoundly influenced the development of Vinaya studies in later generations.
