The *Shiwen Ji* is a compilation of Buddhist texts assembled by the Ming dynasty scholar Mei Dingzuo. Completed in the late Ming period, this work aimed to systematically organize and preserve prefaces, postscripts, annotations, and related documents from the Chinese-translated Buddhist canon. The collection includes exegetical writings on Buddhist scriptures by numerous translators and eminent monks from the Han to the Tang dynasties, encompassing commentaries and explanations on sutras, vinaya, and śāstras, thus holding significant philological value. This book not only provides precious historical materials for the study of the history of Chinese Buddhist translation and the evolution of Buddhist thought but also reflects Mei Dingzuo's outstanding contribution to the collation of Buddhist texts, making it an indispensable reference work in the transmission of Buddhist literature.
