The "Bamboo Hut Notes" was written by the Song Dynasty Tiantai school master Keguan. Keguan was an important scholar of the Shanjia branch of the Tiantai school during the Southern Song period, active in the 12th century. This work is a collection of his notes or short essays, covering interpretations of Tiantai teachings and contemplation, essentials of śamatha-vipaśyanā practice, and discussions on Buddhist doctrines. It reflects the intellectual characteristics of the Tiantai revival during the Song Dynasty. This record is an important document for studying Keguan's personal thought and the development of the Tiantai school in the Song period, holding significant academic value for understanding the theoretical construction of Tiantai after the Shanjia-Shanwai debates, and occupies a place in the history of Buddhist thought.
