Peak Dragon Spring Monastery Recorded Sayings of Master Yinshi Jixian

Beginning of Spring

At this time, the gentle breeze of spring begins to stir, and the energy of wood returns anew. The imperial carriage awaits in solemn reverence at the eastern outskirts. The tuning pipes sound within the crimson chamber. An earth-ox is brought forth to divine good fortune, and painted swallows are adorned to welcome auspicious signs. As misfortune turns to blessing, grass and trees regain their radiance; the old is cast off, the new embraced, and mountains and rivers appear transformed. Withered roots and dried sprouts push upward with the warming breath; dormant creatures and hidden scales awaken as the season's warmth arrives. The Yao calendar, numbering three hundred and sixty days, now marks its rightful beginning; the Jifan's ninefold blessings, fivefold happiness, are all reverently cultivated. Thus, a Dharma feast is established, generously welcoming the splendid season of renewal.

Furthermore,

The Three Yangs begin in full force, and all things flourish together. At the golden gate, the reed pipes stir the drifting dust; In the valley, the millet tubes bring back the first note of spring. The eastern wind melts the frost, and a day of harmony spreads through the halls and towers. Morning mist gathers fragrance, and ten thousand miles of auspicious light float over grass and trees. Misfortune departs with the fading year; Blessings follow as early spring arrives. The green jade tablet is offered with reverence in the east, And the grand rites are properly performed in the Western Land.
