The *Abhidharma-nyāyānusāra-śāstra* is an important treatise composed by the Indian Buddhist master Saṃghabhadra and translated into Chinese by the eminent Tang dynasty monk Master Xuanzang. This treatise belongs to the Sarvāstivāda Abhidharma corpus, composed around the 5th century CE. It primarily refutes the viewpoints of the Sautrāntika school and systematically expounds the doctrines of the Sarvāstivāda. Its content encompasses core theories such as the real existence of all dharmas and the real existence of the three time periods, offering detailed analysis of dharma characteristics including mental dharmas and material dharmas, and demonstrating the rationality of the Sarvāstivāda positions. As a late representative work of the Sarvāstivāda school, this treatise holds a pivotal position connecting past and future in the development of sectarian Buddhism. It is a crucial text for studying sectarian Buddhist thought and one of the key works for understanding the background of the rise of Mahāyāna Buddhism.
