省菴法師遺書。誠為脩淨土之資糧。念佛法門之寶筏也。惜此書不常概見。兵燹後其版久不存。而此書更不可得。今於友人處。偶得是本。緇素咸樂誦之。爰欲刊印。廣布流通。幸遇守源甫陳君。耕根甫張君。與余有同志也。遂為之倡首。暨諸同道信善者。皆樂從以付梓。要使蓮宗一派。源源繼起。永不致斷絕。凡脩淨業之士。必須遵循祖師之法則。篤信遺書之開導。至詳至切。言淺則易知。言近則易從。此書殊不易得。故特廣印普送。惟願同志道侶。樂讀此書。如法受持。得生淨土。使天下信心人聞之。皆額手稱快焉。

> Master Sheng'an's posthumous writings are truly provisions for cultivating Pure Land practice and a precious raft for the method of mindful recitation of the Buddha's name. Unfortunately, these writings are rarely seen. After the warfare, the printing blocks were long lost, making this book even harder to obtain. Recently, at a friend's home, I came upon this edition by chance. Both monastics and laypeople delight in reciting it, and I wish to publish it for widespread circulation. Fortunately, I met Mr. Chen Shouyuan and Mr. Zhang Genggen, who share my aspiration, and together we took the lead. Other like-minded and faithful practitioners also gladly supported its printing. Our aim is to ensure that the Pure Land tradition continues without interruption, with successive generations rising up. All who cultivate Pure Land practice must follow the Dharma teachings of the patriarchs and faithfully trust the guidance of these posthumous writings, which are thorough and sincere. Simple words are easy to understand; straightforward teachings are easy to follow. This book is extremely rare, so I have specially printed it for wide distribution. My only wish is that spiritual companions delight in reading this book, practice accordingly, and attain rebirth in the Pure Land, so that people of faith everywhere may hear of it and raise their hands in joyful praise.

同治十二年。歲次癸酉。春三月。邗上後學種瓜道人悟慧。識於妙香華雨之室。

> In the Guiyou year of the Tongzhi era (1873), during the third month of spring, I, the humble student from Hanjiang and humble cultivator known as Seeds-of-Melons Seed Person of Awakening Wisdom, wrote this in the Room of Wonderful Fragrance and Flower-Rain.
