> Postscript to the Record of Collected Experiences on the Diamond Sutra

> Prajna, the mother of all Buddhas' wisdom, is profound and beyond comprehension. At Vulture Peak, countless beings were liberated. Though they transcended the cycle of life and death, their doubts were not yet uprooted, and their innate wisdom remained hidden. It was only in the Prajna assembly that the Heavenly Tamer, with his diamond-like wisdom, decisively cut through these doubts. He enabled both sages and ordinary beings to exhaust their attachments and forget their views of birth and death, allowing their inherent wisdom-light to shine forth in its fullness. This truth is regarded as the Treasury of the True Dharma Eye. Wherever this precious teaching is preserved, gods and humans gather to protect it. Thus, there are accounts of those who copied the sutra facing the sky without the ink being washed away by rain, and of those who, upon reciting its title at life's end, were reborn in higher realms. Such spiritual responses are too numerous to list. Over the generations, many have recorded these verified accounts. Yet, a complete collection has never been compiled... until now in Japan, filling a long-standing gap. In my earlier years in the eastern capital, I obtained the \*Verified Records\* by Tang Meng... It was like meeting a wise friend and teacher. I lamented, "Alas, this work has been passed down through time with many parts lost or damaged, beyond recovery." Later, though I acquired another copy, it was riddled with errors and omissions... In the northern mountains, I compared it with an ancient version, preserving what was correct and noting discrepancies. After refining it against various texts, I found no further contradictions. Yet, even a fragment of jade from Mount Kun should not be discarded. Thus, I have added supplementary notes and entrusted it to the printers, hoping to share it widely. May readers who come across a better version in the future help complete it.

> In the early summer of the sixth year of the Hōei era, the humble disciple Shōdō of the Southern School respectfully composed this preface in a secluded cottage north of Luoyang.
