Preface to the Combined Text of the Sutra on the Bodhisattva Precepts with Commentary
余友隱公會此經疏余一覽已乃讚歎曰字不譌句不碎有益于物葢莫大焉然此義疏荊谿不解之於前四明不釋之於後故無鈔記足可全依如是則但會經疏不亦宜乎隱公聞之請以題端因而筆記云爾。
After reading this commentary on the sutra, my friend Master Yin exclaimed in admiration, "The text is free of errors, the sentences are complete, and there is nothing more beneficial to people than this! However, this meaning was not understood by Master Jingxi before, nor explained by Master Siming afterward—so there is no explanatory record that can be fully relied upon. Under these circumstances, is it not appropriate for us to simply compile the sutra commentary?" Upon hearing this, Master Yin asked me to write an introduction, and so I have written these notes.
貞享甲子臘月下旬台宗比丘唯忍子敘
