Chapter 11
一
One
A question arises from the gate of conditions: If one does not hold to the view of a self, how does one walk, stand, sit, and lie down?
He replied: Just walking, standing, sitting, and lying down—why need to establish a view of the self?
二
Second.
Question: If one does not retain anything, can one still contemplate the meaning of the teachings?
He replied: If you assume there is a mind, then even without thinking, it still exists. If you understand that there is no mind, then even while thinking, it does not exist. Why is that? For example, a meditation master sits in pure stillness yet thoughts arise, while a fierce wind blows wildly yet it has no mind.
