The *Commentary on the Golden Light Sutra* is a work of textual analysis and commentary by the eminent Ming dynasty monk Master Shoutai, based on the *Golden Light Sutra* translated by Dharmakṣema during the Northern Liang period. This sutra is a significant Mahayana Buddhist scripture that promotes the Golden Light Repentance Ritual for protecting the nation and its people, purifying transgressions, as well as the concept of upholding the true Dharma to safeguard the world. Master Shoutai's commentary systematically clarifies the profound meanings of the text through structural analysis and concise annotations, aiding learners in gaining a deeper understanding. This commentary holds an important place among Buddhist exegetical works of the Ming and Qing dynasties and serves as a key resource for studying the *Golden Light Sutra* and its Sinicized interpretations. It has had a profound influence on the development of doctrinal studies and contemplative practices within Chinese Buddhism.
