*The Detailed Explanation of the Ten Non-Dual Gates: An Essential Commentary* is an exegetical work by the Ming Dynasty monk Zheng Mi, which provides commentary on *The Essential Commentary on the Ten Non-Dual Gates* authored by the Song Dynasty Tiantai master Zhi Li. This text is an important document of the Tiantai school, offering refutations against the views of the "Off-Mountain" faction. It systematically expounds the philosophy of perfect interpenetration found in the Ten Non-Dual Gates, emphasizing the non-dual, mutually-identical relationship between ten pairs of categories, such as form and mind, cause and effect. Zheng Mi's detailed explanation further strengthens the theoretical system of Tiantai's inherent nature doctrine and the practice of contemplating the mind. Holding a pivotal and authoritative position in the history of Buddhist doctrinal studies, it is an indispensable classical commentary for the study of Tiantai teachings and Song Dynasty Buddhism.
