今人多好說參悟。好說了生死。不知在此土了悟甚難。謂之竪超三界。斯陀含猶一往一來。況凡人乎。此土眾生多是先生西方。然後了悟。生西方一門。謂之橫超三界。萬無一失。

> Today, many people enjoy discussing enlightenment or understanding the truth of life and death. They fail to realize that achieving enlightenment in this world is extremely difficult—it's like leaping above the Three Realms vertically. Even a Stream-Enterer still returns once more; how much harder is it for ordinary beings? Most beings in this world should first secure rebirth in the Western Pure Land, and then attain enlightenment afterward. This path of rebirth in the West is called the horizontal crossing of the Three Realms, a method that ensures success without any risk of failure.
