The Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Daian Puzhuang is a compilation of the teachings of the eminent Ming Dynasty Linji school master Daian Puzhuang, edited by his disciples Huiqi, Zhiyue, Zhisheng, Dexiu, Tandun, and Daozhe. Completed in the early Ming Dynasty, this work reflects the character and development of Chan Buddhism during that period. It contains Master Puzhuang's discourses, Dharma talks, pointed dialogues, gathas, and letters, centrally embodying his Chan philosophy and practical methods of directly pointing to the human mind and realizing one's inherent Buddha-nature. This recorded sayings text serves as an important document for studying the Chan methods of the Ming Dynasty Linji school, particularly the lineage and pedagogical style of Master Puzhuang. It holds significant academic value and Buddhist standing for understanding the transmission and evolution of Chan Buddhism from the Song to the Ming dynasties.
