Sutra of the Magician Pāṭala’s Divine Spell<note>Also known as the Sutra of the Divine Spell Spoken

聞如是：一時佛遊於羅閱祇國竹園中鸚鵡樹間。是時有一異比丘，於竹園中去羅閱祇國，適在中間道為毒蛇所齧，復為鬼神所嬈，復為賊所見劫。佛見，爾時便往到是比丘所，時幻師颰陀隨佛俱往。幻師颰陀即白佛言：「我有術，甚大神妙，今欲為呪。」佛言：「止止！颰陀！汝所說，莫使有所傷害。」颰陀白佛言：「後當來世，當國國相攻伐，賊賊更相劫，相憎者復更相劫，鬼神亦更相劫，毒毒更相害。若有比丘在山中樹下坐，披五納衣若在露地坐，四輩弟子當令無有能嬈害者，皆令安隱，當令無有病痛如是。
Thus have I heard: Once, the Buddha was traveling and staying in the Bamboo Grove near Rajagriha, among the parrot trees. At that time, a certain monk was walking on the path between the Bamboo Grove and the city of Rajagriha when he was bitten by a poisonous snake, troubled by spirits, and robbed by thieves. The Buddha saw this and went to the monk. The magician Pata followed the Buddha. Pata said to the Buddha, "I have a practice of great spiritual power, and I wish to chant a curse now." The Buddha said, "Stop, stop, Pata! Do not let what you say cause any harm." Pata said to the Buddha, "In future ages, kingdoms will war against kingdoms, thieves will rob one another, those who hate will harm each other, spirits will attack each other, and poisons will harm each other. If monks sit under trees in the mountains, wearing patchwork robes, or sit in open places, disciples of the fourfold assembly will be kept safe from harm, free from disturbance, and without sickness, just as I say."
「僧莎梨嗪呢 欝遮梨 首黎 首黎 拔提珊提波陀尼 阿裴耶 達予 乙致䩚闍耶兮拔蹄樓𪝜陀僧莎傺𩋋散提波陀尼曼陀羅睺那 比闍睺那
"Sharashini, yuchali, sholi, sholi, padhi shandi padhani, apaya, dayu, yi zhi zhanaya xi patilata shandhani mantaluuna, pi zhanuuna."
「如是祝 斷口語、斷諸術、斷諸病痛。是諸閱叉皆作此術須摩鬼 摩訶閱叉 瞿沙難摩訶閱叉 梵摩具摩閱叉 因阿羅具摩訶閱叉 阿祇眵摩訶閱叉」
Thus spoke the blessing: Stop harmful speech, stop all deceits, stop all pain and sickness. All these yakshas recited this spell: Samoga, Great Yaksha, Goshana, Great Yaksha, Brahmakaya, Great Yaksha, Inalaka, Great Yaksha, Akechi, Great Yaksha.
「是諸閱叉在鬼神中尊，我字因偷諸相求者、使諸欲病人者、害人者，我皆使不知處，障蔽亂眼令不見，一切人皆使不得其便。當爾時呼言，來還持鬼神摩訶還持鬼神，來兜勒摩訶兜勒，來因持兜勒羅摩訶因持兜勒羅，來梵摩兜羅摩訶梵摩兜羅，來因持兜羅摩訶因持兜羅，來菩陀兜羅摩訶菩陀兜羅，來閱叉兜羅摩訶閱叉兜羅，來阿多得兜勒摩訶阿多得兜勒，來首羅瞿沙兜勒摩訶首羅瞿沙兜勒。我字因偷諸怨家相求便者，我皆救之覆蔽，使兩不相見。為繩索所繫縛，消滅所繫縛。惡意所繫縛、欲醉意所繫縛、亂意所繫縛，但歸命佛，一切皆得解脫。歸命佛時，言南無佛。」告起，作禮而去。
I am among the spirits and ghosts, honored as their chief. My name is Yintou. Those who seek to do harm, those who are afflicted by harmful desires, those who intend to hurt others—I make them all go astray. I obscure their vision, causing them to see nothing, so that no one can achieve their malicious aims.
If you ever find yourself in such a situation, call out: "Come back, great protector of spirits! Come, Doulei, great Doulei! Come, Yindou Leiluo, great Yindou Leiluo! Come, Fanmo Douluo, great Fanmo Douluo! Come, Yindou Luomo, great Yindou Luomo! Come, Putuo Douluo, great Putuo Douluo! Come, Yecha Douluo, great Yecha Douluo! Come, Aduode Doulei, great Aduode Doulei! Come, Shouluo Jusha Doulei, great Shouluo Jusha Doulei!"
My name is Yintou. Whenever any enemy seeks a chance to harm someone, I rescue and shelter them, causing the two never to meet. For those bound by ropes, the bindings are undone. For those bound by hatred, drunken desires, or confusion—if they take refuge in the Buddha, everything is released.
When taking refuge in the Buddha, say, "Namo Buddha."
Having spoken thus, he arose, bowed respectfully, and departed.
