Sutra on the Tooth Charm Spoken by the Buddha
Translated by Zhu Tanwulan of the Eastern Jin Dynasty
I pay homage to the Buddha, I pay homage to the Dharma, I pay homage to the community of monks. I pay homage to Shariputra and the great Mahamaudgalyayana monks. I pay homage to the renowned enlightened one from the borderlands.
To the north, on Mount Gandhamadana, there is a worm king named "Chā Chà Wú," who dwells in someone's teeth. Now I shall send a messenger: do not dare to eat those teeth or the roots of those teeth. If the worms in the roots, in the edges of the teeth, do not immediately fall into the container, may their heads break into seven pieces, like the Gangā serpent.
Brahma himself encourages this spell. I pay homage to the Buddha—may all the spells I recite be fulfilled according to my wish.
