The Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Wuming Huixing is a collection of teachings by the eminent Chan Master Wuming Huixing of the Linji school during the Southern Song dynasty, compiled by his attendants Miao Yan, Yuan Cheng, Miao Quan, Dao Long, Yuan Zhao, Fa Hong, and Wei Dao. This record was compiled in the thirteenth century and reflects the development of Chan Buddhism in the Southern Song period. Its contents encompass essential methods for Chan practice, instructions on mind and nature, commentaries on gong'an, and daily dialogues of spiritual encounter, emphasizing the Chan principle of directly pointing to the human mind and realizing one's inherent Buddha-nature. As an important text of the Yangqi branch of the Linji school, this record not only embodies Chan Master Huixing's teachings but also serves as a key document for studying the literary style of Chan records and the transmission of thought in the Song dynasty, holding significant status in Buddhist history.
