### 京兆房翥　勸化往生

《彌陀感應圓》云：「唐房翥，京兆人，暴死至陰府，見閻羅王。王曰：『據案簿，君曾勸一老人念佛，已生淨土，君承此福，亦合生淨土，故來相見。』翥曰：『先許《金剛經》萬卷，巡禮五臺，未欲徃生。』王曰：『誦經巡禮，固為好事，不如早生淨土。』王知意不可奪，乃放還。以此知勸人修者，非徒徃生，又感動幽冥也。」

> <note>From the \*Mituo Ganying Yuan\* (Record of Amitabha's Responses): "In the Tang Dynasty, there was a man named Fang Zhu from the capital region of Jingzhao. He died suddenly and arrived at the underworld, where he met King Yama. The King said, 'According to the records, you once encouraged an elderly person to recite the Buddha's name, and that person has already been reborn in the Pure Land. Due to this merit, you yourself are also destined to be reborn in the Pure Land, which is why I have summoned you here.' Fang Zhu replied, 'I have previously vowed to recite the \*Diamond Sutra\* ten thousand times and to make a pilgrimage to Mount Wutai. I am not yet ready to seek rebirth.' The King said, 'Reciting sutras and making pilgrimages are indeed good deeds, but they are not as good as seeking rebirth in the Pure Land early.' Seeing that Fang Zhu's resolve could not be changed, the King released him and let him return. From this, we can see that those who encourage others to practice cultivation not only help them achieve rebirth but also move the underworld itself."</note>
