Incense Offering to the Tathagata of Incense Light King
開建淨土大道場 先然五分法身香
西方眾聖俱雲集 列聖垂光大闡揚
Building the great sacred ground of the Pure Land, First ignite the incense of the fivefold Dharmakaya.
All saints of the Western Realm gather like clouds, Holy ones radiate light, grandly proclaiming the Way.
是香也。不從天降。豈屬地生。第一義諦結成。真三昧海流出。成雲成霧。為盖為臺。培自己之靈苗。慕樂邦之覺父。名超極樂。價重娑婆。爇向罏中。供養。
This incense does not fall from the sky, nor does it grow from the earth. It is formed from the Ultimate Truth, flowing from the Ocean of True Samadhi. It becomes clouds and mist, forms canopies and platforms, nurturing one's own spiritual seeds and calling upon the Enlightened Father of Bliss. Its name transcends the Land of Ultimate Bliss; its value outweighs the Saha world. Burn it in the censer as an offering.
娑婆大教主。萬德至尊。本師釋迦牟尼佛。西方世界。淨土教主。接引導師阿彌陀佛。輔讚西方。同願化度。觀音勢至。清淨海眾。三賢十地。緣覺聲聞。西乾東土。禪律諸宗。諸祖師僧。方等會上。護教天龍。星主大帝。列曜高真。三界萬靈。十方玄造。當山土地。弘護伽藍。淨土會內。無量聖凡。惟願普熏。同垂感降。
The great teacher of this world, of boundless virtue and honor—our original guide, Shakyamuni Buddha. The teacher of the Pure Land in the Western realm, the guiding master who welcomes all beings, Amitabha Buddha. Those who aid and support the Western Land, working with the same aspiration to transform and liberate—Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthama. The vast assembly of beings pure as the ocean, the three ranks of sages and ten stages of Bodhisattvas, the Pratyekabuddhas and Shravakas. From India to China, all teachers and patriarchs of the Zen and Vinaya traditions. The celestial dragons who protect the Dharma in the assemblies of the Vaipulya Sutras. The Lord of the Stars, the sovereign of the planets, and the honored celestial bodies. The countless spirits of the three realms, the ten directions, and the profound mysteries of creation. The local land spirits and guardian deities who support and uphold the sangha. Within this Pure Land assembly, the infinite holy beings and ordinary practitioners— We only wish that your compassionate presence may pervade all, and that you descend in response to our sincere call.
天風吹送紫檀烟 瑞氣祥光燭大千
要識涅槃安樂處 寶池初綻一枝蓮
The wind of heaven carries the scent of sandalwood smoke, And auspicious light illuminates the vast universe. If you wish to know where Nirvana's peace resides: A lotus has just bloomed on the Jeweled Pond.
