The *Mingbao Ji Jishu*, compiled and edited by the Japanese scholar Sasaki Kenshoku, is an important document in the history of Japanese Buddhism. Based on the *Mingbao Ji* authored by Tang Lin of the Tang Dynasty, this work assembles numerous stories of karmic retribution and rebirth, aiming to propagate the Buddhist teaching that good and evil deeds bear corresponding fruits. Its content is largely drawn from Chinese classics and Japanese folklore, reflecting the integration of Buddhism with indigenous culture after its transmission to Japan. This compilation not only preserves valuable Buddhist literary materials but also provides an important reference for the study of Japanese Buddhist beliefs and folk customs. It holds a unique position in the research on the dissemination of Buddhism in East Asia and the study of karmic thought.
