The Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Mingdao Zhengjue Sen is a collection of teachings by the Qing Dynasty Linji school master, Chan Master Xingsen, compiled by his disciples such as Chaode. Chan Master Xingsen was a renowned Chan monk of the late Ming and early Qing periods, who once gave teachings to the Shunzhi Emperor, exerting significant influence within Buddhist circles in the early Qing era. This work includes his discourses, Dharma talks, dialogues, and question-and-answer exchanges, embodying the Linji school's approach of directly pointing to the mind, seeing one's nature, and attaining Buddhahood. It serves as an important text for studying early Qing Chan thought and the relationship between Buddhism and the imperial court, holding considerable historical and Buddhist value for understanding the spread and development of the Linji school, as well as the evolution of Chan Buddhism during the Qing Dynasty.
