### 順治十七年四月御札

> Imperial Edict of the Fourth Month, Seventeenth Year of the Shunzhi Reign

錫杖還山，時縈遠念。茲覽音問，式慰朕思。來伻言，旋裁書附往，並有欲語者。朕每念法門、輒景先哲，知雪嶠大師藏塔卓立雲門，後學諸方應共瞻仰。比聞山界雖分、基址漸圮，恐年深人遠，陵毀堪虞。今特捐五百金重為修治，雖未必足窣波之費，然經朕一為整葺，人必改觀起敬，自不敢復行侵侮矣。

> The staff returns to the mountain, yet my thoughts often linger there. Now, reading your message, I find comfort for my longing. Your envoy has spoken, and I send this letter in reply, along with words I wish to convey. Whenever I reflect upon the Dharma gate, I am moved by the memory of the sages of old. I know that the stupa of Master Xueqiao stands tall at Yunmen, a site that should be revered by all later students of the Way. Recently, I have heard that although the mountain boundaries are divided, the foundation has gradually fallen into disrepair. I fear that with the passing of years and the distance of people, it may face the risk of being neglected or damaged. Therefore, I now specially donate five hundred gold pieces to restore it. Though this may not fully cover the cost of the stupa, once I have undertaken this restoration, people will surely look upon it with renewed respect and will no longer dare to encroach upon or dishonor it.

禪師重念儀型，久懷崇飾，當勉為經理，承朕敬禮尊宿之義，以副夙心，故茲特屬禪師其悉之。

> The Master's noble form and long-cherished reverence call for diligent care. I entrust this to you, Master, to uphold my deep respect for venerable elders and to fulfill my heartfelt wish. Thus, I specially entrust this matter to you, Master. Please attend to it fully.
