The Aṅguttara Nikāya is a significant scripture within the Sutta Piṭaka of the Pāli Canon in the Theravāda Buddhist tradition. This translation by lay practitioner Ye Qingchun is based on the Pāli original. The text was compiled primarily by the Buddha's disciples during the First Council following the Buddha's Parinirvāṇa. Its content is organized using numerical classification, assembling the Buddha's teachings given to disciples of varying capacities. It encompasses the essence of the Dharma, meditative practices, and ethical instruction. As a Chinese translation of the Aṅguttara Nikāya, it systematically contains several thousand sutta passages, serving as a precious resource for the study of early Buddhist thought and practice. Holding a fundamental position in Buddhism, it forms, together with the Dīgha Nikāya, Majjhima Nikāya, and Saṃyutta Nikāya, the core of the Sutta Piṭaka, providing disciples with a clear sequence of practice.
