The Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Jingting Zong was compiled by the Qing dynasty Chan monk Dezong and edited by his disciples such as Xingqian, with additional supplements based on the Juben edition before publication. Completed during the Qing dynasty, this work reflects the developmental landscape of Chan Buddhism at that time. It contains Master Dezong's teachings, Dharma discourses, dialogues of pointed wisdom, and essential principles of practice, embodying the distinctive style of the Linji school. As a Chan discourse record, it serves not only as important material for studying Qing dynasty Chan thought but also provides a practical guide for later practitioners investigating the nature of mind. In the history of Buddhist Chan, it holds academic and practical value in carrying forward the past and ushering in the future.
