The Dharma Platform of Chan Master Shiyu is a collection of the teachings of the Ming Dynasty Chan master Shiyu Mingfang, compiled by his disciple Jingzhu. Completed during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, this work reflects the intellectual outlook and practical cultivation of the Caodong lineage of Chan Buddhism at that time. Its contents primarily consist of Master Shiyu’s discourses, Dharma words, dialogues of opportunity, and poetic verses, offering profound explanations on the Chan doctrines of mind-nature, the sudden enlightenment approach, and daily practice. As an important text of the Caodong school, it serves not only as a key resource for studying the evolution of Chan thought in the late Ming period but also holds guiding significance for later generations of Chan practitioners, securing its place within the Buddhist canon.
