> "Demonstrating Algae and Snow"

潔如藻，白如雪，究竟不知是何物？江南聞說有雲門，但有纖疑必可決。我無玄，亦無奧，相逢只唱漁家傲。更問如何性與心？斷拂一枝當面挫。也作詩、也作偈，協韻何曾有文字？興到隨腔信口歌，記取是名雪書記。

> Pure as pondweed, white as snow—what exactly is this thing, in the end? In the south, they speak of Yunmen; any lingering doubt can be resolved there. I have no mystery, no profundity—when we meet, I simply sing the fisherman’s pride. Ask further about nature and mind? I snap a branch and strike it down before your face. I write verse, I write gāthās—yet where are the words when rhyme aligns? When inspiration strikes, I sing freely with the tune; remember this name: “Snow Scribe.”
