> 18\. Biography of Nun Chifa of Anguo Temple in Chang'an, Tang Dynasty (with additional biographies of Huiren and Konggu)

持法，晉陵黃氏女。與其妹慧忍，同稟宿根。幼聞人誦法華，聽之，曰：「吾解此義也。」試使之說，能深談實相之旨。後入京師安國寺為尼，同修法華三昧。忽有尼號空姑，詞貌甚異，來共止宿。每至中夜，身光赫然，如是三年而去。或問之，二尼皆笑而不答，人謂其為普賢也。一行禪師聞之，亦加欽敬。

> Dharma Holder, a woman of the Huang family from Jinling. Together with her younger sister, Hui Ren, they both possessed deep karmic roots from past lives. As a child, she heard people reciting the Lotus Sutra and, upon listening, said, "I understand the meaning of this." When tested and asked to explain it, she could profoundly discuss the essence of true reality. Later, she entered the Anguo Temple in the capital to become a nun, practicing the Lotus Samadhi together with others. Suddenly, there was a nun named Kong Gu, whose words and appearance were extraordinary, who came to stay with them. Every midnight, her body would radiate a brilliant light, and this continued for three years before she departed. When asked about it, both nuns would only smile without answering, and people believed she was Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. When Chan Master Yixing heard of this, he too regarded them with deep respect.
