Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Huayan Shengke is a compilation of discourses by the Qing Dynasty Chan master Deyu, edited by his disciples such as Guangfo. Completed in the early Qing period, this work reflects the transmission and development of the Linji school of Chan at that time. Its contents include Shengke Deyu's teachings, Dharma words, sharp dialogues, and poetic verses. The core philosophy integrates the Huayan school's view of perfect interpenetration with the practical methods of Chan, emphasizing the union of mind-nature cultivation with daily life. As an important text in Chinese Buddhism, it not only embodies the characteristic fusion of Chan and doctrine during the Ming and Qing dynasties but also holds profound guiding value for later practitioners of Chan. It is a key scripture for studying Huayan Chan methods and the style of the Linji school.
