### （二七）治鞭瘡喻

> (27) Healing Whip Wounds

昔有一人為王所鞭，既被鞭已，以馬屎拊之欲令速差。有愚人見之心生歡喜，便作是言：「我決得是治瘡方法。」即便歸家語其兒言：「汝鞭我背，我得好法今欲試之。」兒為鞭背，以馬屎拊之以為善巧。世人亦爾，聞有人言修不淨觀，即得除去五陰身瘡，便作是言：「我欲觀於女色及以五欲。」未見不淨，返為女色之所惑亂，流轉生死墮於地獄，世間愚人亦復如是。

> Once upon a time, there was a man who was whipped by the king. After being whipped, he applied horse dung to his wounds, hoping they would heal quickly. A fool saw this and became delighted, thinking, "Now I've figured out the perfect method for treating wounds!" So he went home and told his son, "Whip me on the back—I have a wonderful technique I want to try out." The son whipped him on the back and then applied horse dung, thinking this was a clever method. The same is true for people in the world. When they hear someone say that practicing meditation on impurity can cure the "wounds" of the five aggregates (the body and mind), they think, "I want to try contemplating the impurity of women's beauty and sensory pleasures." But because they have not actually seen the impurity, they end up being confused and seduced by attractive appearances. They then continue circling through the cycle of birth and death, eventually falling into hell. The foolish people in the world are just like that.
