請觀音經疏闡義鈔序
Preface to the Commentary on the Exegesis of the Sutra on Inviting Guanyin
此疏自智者演說、章安記錄，古來人師無聞贊述。既傳授道息，後學往往有不知其名者、知其名而未嘗披其卷者。於乎！斯文之未喪也，一綫爾。吾不肖，而實痛焉。吾如默默，則何以傳後？遂因疾間，輒約文敷義筆之為鈔，凡二卷，庶申明於大旨，開發於童蒙也。既成，乃作序以言其由，復作闡義之名以名之。
This commentary, originally spoken by the Master Zhiyi and recorded by Zhang'an, has rarely been praised or discussed by teachers of the past. As its transmission and teaching faded, later students often did not even know its name, or knew its name but never opened its pages. Alas! The survival of this text hangs by a thread. Unworthy as I am, I feel deeply pained by this. If I remain silent, how will it be passed on to future generations? Thus, during a period of illness, I took the opportunity to condense its text, expand upon its meaning, and compile it into a two-volume copy, hoping to clarify its main principles and make it accessible to beginners. Once completed, I wrote this preface to explain its origin and gave it the title "Elucidating the Meaning."
皇宋三葉登封之明年，歲次己酉，孟夏哉生明，於南塔上方病中序。
In the second year of the Song Dynasty's era of peace, during the summer month of the year Jiyou, I wrote this preface while ill at the Southern Pagoda.
