The "Comprehensive Commentary on the Lankavatara Sutra" was composed by the Song Dynasty monk Shanyue, serving as an authoritative annotation to the *Lankavatara Sutra*. This work emerged during the Song Dynasty, a period of flourishing Buddhist doctrinal studies in China, integrating Yogacara and Tathagatagarbha thought. It provides in-depth explanations of core teachings such as the theory of consciousness, the three natures and three naturelessness, while emphasizing practical cultivation and realization. Renowned for its clear logic and precise interpretation, Shanyue's commentary serves as a vital bridge for studying the *Lankavatara Sutra*. It holds profound significance in the history of Buddhist thought, particularly contributing to later understandings of Yogacara philosophy and meditation practice. As a precious text among Chinese Buddhist commentaries, it remains a treasured document within the tradition.
