如意輪陀羅尼經破業障品第二
Chapter 2: Eliminating Karmic Obstacles
爾時觀自在菩薩摩訶薩又白佛言：「世尊！若有比丘、比丘尼、優婆塞、優婆夷、童男童女，於此生身求大功德現報之者，當於晝夜依法精勤修持此如意輪陀羅尼呪。不假占擇日月吉宿，亦不一日二日斷食，亦不沐浴亦不作壇，著常衣服明水灑淨，如常齋食作成就法。當於晝夜居淨室中面東趺坐，想觀自在身相好圓滿如日初出，放大光明坐蓮花上，對在目前誦念不亂，燒沈水香運心供養恭敬禮拜，隨心所辦香花供獻而不斷絕。六時時別一千八十遍相續不絕，一一字誦滿三落叉(梵云一洛叉，唐云十萬)。由住瑜伽觀法誦念，所有過現五無間罪極惡業障自然消滅，當見種種諸大善夢，當知此則罪滅之相，聖觀自在加被護念。由斯善根，百千事業、舉心誦念、一切所為悉得成就。一切諸明神通威力，無能及此如意輪陀羅尼明神通力者。所以者何？是陀羅尼若有能信受持之者，過現造積四重、五逆、十惡罪障，應墮阿毘地獄之者，悉能消滅。若一日二日三日四日乃至七日熱病風病、癀病痰病、蠱毒厭禱、疔瘡疥癩、癲癎風痒、頭鼻眼耳脣舌牙齒咽喉胸脇心腹腰背手足支節一切疾病、種種災厄魍魎鬼神，由經誦念皆得除滅。一切藥叉、囉剎、毘那夜迦、惡神鬼等悉不能害。刀兵水火、惡風雷雹、王難賊難、怨讐等難不相橫害。一切惡相尠福之業、惡星變怪皆自消滅。蚖蛇蝮蝎、守宮蜘蛛、師子虎狼、一切惡獸亦不相害。若有軍陣鬪戰、官事諍訟，由明成就皆得解脫。若常五更誦此陀羅尼一千八十遍者，如上諸事皆得解脫，自在如意。若能每日六時時別誦此陀羅尼一千八十遍者，聖觀自在夢覺現身，住是人前告言：『善男子！勿怖。欲求何願，一切施汝。』或見阿彌陀佛，或見極樂世界宮殿樓閣莊嚴之事，或見極樂世界菩薩會眾，或見十方一切諸佛菩薩大眾一切集會，或見聖觀自在所住補陀落山七寶宮殿，或見自身內外清淨，或見國王大臣恭敬供養，或見自身過世所造一切罪障皆得消滅。當知斯人當捨命後不受胎生，蓮花化生身相端好，著天衣服而自莊飾，生生之處識宿命智，乃至菩提更不墮於三惡道中，恒與一切諸佛菩薩，同一生處住不退地。」
At that time, the great Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara again addressed the Buddha, saying: "World-Honored One! If there are monks, nuns, laymen, laywomen, boys, or girls who, in this very life, seek great merit and visible rewards, they should diligently and tirelessly recite this Wish-Fulfilling Wheel Dhāraṇī day and night, following the Dharma. They need not consult astrological charts to select auspicious days or stars, nor observe one- or two-day fasts, nor perform ritual bathing, nor construct an altar. They may wear their ordinary clothes, sprinkle clean water for purification, and practice the accomplishment method while eating their regular meals. Throughout the day and night, they should dwell in a clean room, sit cross-legged facing east, and visualize Avalokiteśvara with a perfectly complete form, radiant like the rising sun, emitting great light and seated upon a lotus flower. With this image before them, they should recite without distraction, burning aloeswood incense, making offerings with a devoted mind, and presenting flowers and incense according to their means, without interruption.
During each of the six periods of the day, they should recite 1,080 times continuously, and each syllable should be recited three lakhs times [Note: one lakh in Sanskrit means one hundred thousand] in total. Through abiding in meditative focus and reciting with visualization, all the most heinous evil karma and obstructions—including the five unrelenting offenses—committed in past and present lives will naturally dissolve. They will see various great auspicious dreams, which should be known as signs that their sins are being purified, with the holy Avalokiteśvara bestowing his blessings and protection.
Through these virtuous roots, all manner of undertakings—reciting with focused intention for a hundred thousand matters—will be accomplished. No other mantra, illumination, or spiritual power can surpass the power of this Wish-Fulfilling Wheel Dhāraṇī. Why is that? For those who faithfully accept and uphold this dhāraṇī, even the accumulated offenses of the four grave transgressions, five heinous acts, and ten evil deeds—which would otherwise condemn them to the Avīci hell—can all be completely extinguished.
Whether it be fever, wind-related illness, jaundice, phlegm disorders, poison spells, harmful sorcery, boils, scabies, leprosy, epilepsy, itching, afflictions of the head, nose, eyes, ears, lips, tongue, teeth, throat, chest, ribs, heart, abdomen, lower back, hands, feet, or any limbs—all manner of diseases, various calamities, and hauntings by malevolent spirits will be relieved through recitation. All yakṣas, rākṣasas, vināyakas, and evil spirits cannot cause harm. Sword and weapon attacks, floods, fires, violent winds, thunderbolts, tribulations from rulers, robbers, enemies, and other dangers will not strike them down. All inauspicious signs, meager fortune, baleful stars, and strange anomalies will naturally dissipate. Venomous snakes, vipers, scorpions, geckos, spiders, lions, tigers, wolves—no ferocious beasts will harm them.
Should they face military battles, legal disputes, or litigation, all will be resolved through the power of this mantra. If one recites this dhāraṇī 1,080 times regularly in the early dawn hours, all the above afflictions will be relieved, and they will live with freedom and ease. If one recites this dhāraṇī 1,080 times during each of the six periods of the day, the holy Avalokiteśvara will appear directly in their waking presence, standing before them and saying: 'Noble one! Do not fear. Whatever wish you desire, I will grant it all.' Alternatively, they may see Amitabha Buddha, or witness the glorious palaces, towers, and adornments of the Western Pure Land, or behold the assembly of bodhisattvas in that land, or see all the Buddhas and bodhisattvas of the ten directions gathered together, or perceive the seven-jeweled palace of Potalaka Mountain where Avalokiteśvara dwells, or see themselves purified inside and out, or witness kings and ministers offering respect and homage, or perceive all the sins and obstructions they created in past lives being completely dissolved.
Know that when such a person's life comes to an end, they will not be born from a womb, but will arise from a lotus flower with a beautiful and perfect form, adorned in celestial garments. In every lifetime, they will remember their past existences, and until they reach Enlightenment, they will never again fall into the three lower realms. They will always dwell among all Buddhas and bodhisattvas, born in the same place, abiding in the stage of non-retrogression."
