第三門 開不犯
Chapter 3: Non-Transgression
問：何謂不犯耶？
Question: What does it mean to not commit an offense?
答：律有五種，皆謂無盜心也。一、與想，意謂他與也；二、己有想，謂非他物也；三、糞掃想，謂無主也；四、暫取想，即持還也；五、親厚意，無彼此也。
問：何謂親厚耶？
Question: What does it mean to be close and kind?
答：律有七法：一、難作能作，二、難與能與，三、難忍能忍，四、密事相告，五、互相覆藏，六、遭苦不捨，七、貧賤不輕。能行是七法者，是善親友也。
The answer: There are seven principles in the code of conduct for a good friend: 1. To do what is difficult to do, 2. To give what is difficult to give, 3. To endure what is difficult to endure, 4. To share secrets with each other, 5. To keep each other’s confidences, 6. Not to abandon each other in times of hardship, 7. Not to look down on each other in times of poverty or low status.
Those who can practice these seven principles are true and good friends.
