南岳繼起和尚大宗堂錄彙自序
庚戌長夏，病榻山中，念行腳高士囊缽蕭然，不獨古人語錄不能購，與我同生此世者，尚不得讀我全書，秪因卷帙浩繁，慨然於諸會錄中，取其語之簡直者，釐為十卷，曰大宗堂錄彙。其實如樹泉、報慈、甲辰、湘雲館散錄、堯封後錄，皆於古人說不到處盡心而出，一字不可捨者，無以得此失彼，反使老僧賺卻闍黎。
壬子九月霜降第一日，退翁自序。
