四 入眾請師
4. Approaching the Master with the Assembly
引請師前引，行者後隨，至佛前，教行者作禮已。復引至和尚前，行者作禮已，長跪合掌。引請師云：
The guiding master leads the way, with the practitioner following behind. They proceed to the front of the Buddha image, where the practitioner is instructed to bow. Then they are led to the master, where the practitioner bows again, kneels down, and joins their palms in reverence. The guiding master then says:
「夫以儒敦事父，唯重於成身。釋制依師，務存於學道。庶使四儀軌度，藉此以琢磨。五分法身，因茲而成立。理須竭誠事奉，克志陳詞。恐汝未能，我今教汝。
Confucianism emphasizes serving one's father, with the primary focus on cultivating one's character. Buddhism establishes the practice of relying on a teacher, with the essential purpose of learning the Way. In this way, the four dignified manners and proper conduct can be refined through this practice, and the fivefold Dharma-body can be established because of it. It is only right to serve with utmost sincerity and express one's aspirations with determination. Fearing that you may not yet know how, I now instruct you.
「大德一心念：『我某甲今請大德為和尚，願大德為我作和尚。我依大德故，得剃髮出家，慈愍故。』」(三說)
Venerable One, with a focused mind, I declare: 'I, [Name], now request the Venerable One to be my Preceptor. May the Venerable One act as my Preceptor. Through relying on the Venerable One, I shall receive the tonsure and leave the household life. Please, out of compassion, grant this.'"(This is to be said three times.)
和尚告云：
The monk replied,
「可為汝作剃髮和尚。」
次又引至闍梨前。行者作禮已，長跪合掌。引請師云：
「夫以厭處凡流，欣參寶位。將欲翦除於俗態，理宜警策於蒙心。矧在中人必由名匠，今為汝請某人作剃髮阿闍梨。此師誨人無倦，接物有方。故須專秉一心，恭陳三請。恐汝未能，我今教汝。
「大德一心念：『我某甲今請大德為剃髮阿闍梨，願大德為我作剃髮阿闍梨。我依大德故，得剃髮出家，慈愍故。』」(三說)
"With a reverent heart, I now ask the Venerable One to be my teacher for shaving my head. I sincerely request that the Venerable One become my preceptor for ordination. Because of your kindness, I receive the shaving and ordination to leave home life. Please be compassionate toward me." (Recite three times)
闍梨告云：
The teacher said:
「可為汝作剃髮闍梨。所有教示，須當諦聽。」
