Recorded Sayings of Venerable Master Shuijianhai of Tiantang, Abiding at Jinsu Temple
This is a collection of recorded sayings spoken by the Qing Dynasty Chan master Huihai, compiled by his disciples Yuancheng, Yuanshang, and others. Completed in the early Qing period, this work reflects the Chan style and practice of the Linji school of that time. Its contents include the Dharma words, teachings, pointed dialogues, and poetic verses of Venerable Huihai during his residence at Jinsu Temple, vividly embodying the Chan principle of directly pointing to the human mind, seeing one's nature, and attaining Buddhahood. As an important text of the Linji school, this record not only transmits the essential teaching of the Chan tradition but also holds precious value for the study of Qing Dynasty Buddhist history and Chan thought, providing later learners with a vital basis for practice and investigation.
