天界覺浪盛禪師語錄序
Preface to the Recorded Sayings of Zen Master Tianjie Juelang Sheng
余下根鈍器，衰老失學，每見世間文字及諸方語錄堆床積案，便眼昏頭運不能開卷；每拈懶贊語「那有閒工夫，替俗人拭鼻涕邪？」然每於燈殘月落夢回寂醒，先佛古師一二染神剋骨語句影略逗漏，時時落齒牙喉吻中，如小兒弄語時婆婆和和。有人詰之，茫然不能置荅，有掩口一笑耳！
與覺浪和尚相聞十餘年始得把臂，不交一語頓覺心腑清涼，輒伸筆為文以贈。頃，又見其《天界初會語》，是四十年前與焦弱侯諸先生聚首提唱者，迄今藏去篋笥，未有人著語。而公之上首鶴谿，猥以見屬，每欲下筆輒作婆婆和和然，是又可一笑也。常聞長者言：「本朝禪門自琦楚石、泐季潭後一燈迢然，而憨山大師盛稱壽昌無明以為法眼圓明振起末俗。」今浪師實壽昌的骨子孫，建大法幢獅絃繼響。讀斯語者，有以洞見其提挈綱要照用縱奪之機，無以斯世顢頇儱侗冬瓜瓠子之禪同類而舉揚之，庶不為延津刻舟之人所竊笑也。
昔吾憨師贊壽昌之像曰：「突出大好山，千里遙相見。」博山見之，以為知壽昌之深無如憨師也。今吾幸於暮年得見浪師，相與敲空作響，無舌而談。善財童子登妙峰頂不見德雲比丘，及見德雲乃在別峰之上，蓋余與浪師所謂千里遙相見者如此，鶴谿以為然否？
In the past, our master Han Shan praised the portrait of Shouchang, saying: "Suddenly the great mountain appears, seen from a thousand miles away." When Boshan saw this, he believed that no one understood Shouchang more deeply than Han Shan.
Now, in my old age, I am fortunate to meet Master Lang. Together, we strike emptiness and create sound, speaking without tongues. The boy Sudhana climbed to the peak of Wondrous Summit yet did not see the monk Virtue-cloud; when he finally met him, it was on a different peak. This is how Master Lang and I are like the "seeing from a thousand miles away."
