> Verse of Repentance for Pure Land

> Monks Zhi Xu and others, from countless eons ago until this very day, we have been lost in our true nature, forever bound in the cycle of rebirth. With our three actions and six senses, we have committed every form of evil; through the five realms and eight difficulties, we have tasted every form of suffering. Ignorance has been passed down through generations, and we have never awakened. Life and death stretch on endlessly—when will liberation come to us? Now, blessed with the teachings of the Great Vehicle, we have given rise to genuine faith. Joyfully hearing of the Pure Land, we should quickly recognize the way home. Diligent effort is already too slow, and if we delay further, what hope is there? Thus, we reveal our sincere hearts and together vow to attain Samadhi. We follow the practice of seeking rebirth, pledging seven days without distraction. We walk the path for six periods of the day, gathering our minds in all four postures. With humble hearts we call upon the perfect compassion, trusting that the wondrous response will surely come. We vow to deeply seek the true Dharma, untouched by the dust of emotion. Let our conduct align with our resolve, and our path follow the ancient sages. Abandon all worldly entanglements, contemplate impermanence with urgency. Let us remain unmoved by the eight winds and unwavering in the four vows. Even for our supportive companions, may we plant deep seeds of virtue, so all may return to the Pure Land. To our teachers, monastic parents, and all loved ones through countless lifetimes; to all living beings in the Dharma realm, both the clever and the dull; to all sentient beings, past and present—may they be touched by the radiant vows of Dharma Store and receive the compassionate power of Amitabha. May the three obstacles be instantly removed, and may all be equally purified in the four kinds of Pure Lands. With this merit of making vows, we fully repay the kindness of the three realms and the four benefactors, and together perfect the wisdom of all forms of enlightenment.
