The Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Falan Cheng is a compilation of the teachings of the Qing dynasty Chan master Falan Cheng, edited and arranged by his disciple Qinggao and published from the Juben edition. This work was produced during the developmental period of Chan Buddhism in the Qing dynasty, recording Master Falan Cheng's discourses, sharp dialogues, and essential points of Chan practice. Its content addresses the theory of mind-nature, methods of cultivation, and daily investigation, embodying the style of the Linji school. As an important Chan text from the Qing dynasty, this record not only transmits the essence of Chan learning from the Tang and Song dynasties but also demonstrates the practice-oriented approach of the Chan communities of that time. It holds significant academic value for the study of modern Chan thought and practice, standing as one of the authoritative texts for understanding the lineage of Chan studies in the Qing dynasty.
