5. Northern Qi Dynasty: Dharma Secrets of the Nun from the Hidden Demon Cliff at Mount Wutai

Fami was a monk from the Northern Qi dynasty. His mind was naturally brilliant, and his resolve was truly exceptional. He lived on the Western Terrace of Mount Wutai, devoting himself to meditation and wisdom. He sustained himself on wild plants and mountain streams, enduring hardship through strict discipline. For fifty years, he never descended the mountain. He passed away peacefully at over eighty years of age. Later generations revered his practice and named his dwelling place "Mimoyan" (Secret Demon Cliff), referring to it as the place where the eminent nun Fami subdued inner demons. During the Tang dynasty, a monk known as Mimoyan, who had attained the teachings of Mazu, also became famous for residing here, using a trident to guide seekers.
