### 八六、明廣州真梵庵尼成靜傳

> 86\. Biography of Nun Chengjing of Zhenfan Nunnery in Guangzhou

成靜，字實修，廣州古岡人，俗姓張。幼持齋戒，以貞潔自處，禮本邑真梵庵主為師。及剃落，專課涅槃大乘諸經，事師尤謹。中年進具，常以毘尼請益於弘贊律師，栖心淨土，彌陀不輟於心口。慈詳好施，威儀範物，循循善誘，為士庶所仰。嘗勸眾造旃檀千手眼大悲聖像於鳳城之大慈庵。越明年，得微疾，預知時至。頻誨徒眾，與諸檀越訣別。翌日，語諸弟子曰：「千手千眼大悲觀音菩薩來此相接，汝等合恭迎之，吾往矣。」即瞑目而化，世壽五十有九。

> Cheng Jing, also known as Shixiu, was from Gucheng in Guangzhou, and his lay surname was Zhang. From a young age, he observed a vegetarian diet and maintained a life of purity and integrity. He took the master of Zhenfan Temple in his hometown as his teacher. After ordination, he devoted himself to studying the Mahayana sutras, especially the Nirvana Sutra, and served his teacher with utmost respect and diligence. In his middle years, he received full ordination and often sought guidance on the Vinaya from Master Hongzan. He dedicated his heart to the Pure Land tradition, constantly reciting the name of Amitabha Buddha with unwavering devotion. Kind and generous, he was a model of dignified conduct, guiding others with patience and wisdom, earning the admiration of both scholars and commoners. He once encouraged the community to create a sandalwood statue of the Thousand-Armed, Thousand-Eyed Great Compassionate Guanyin at Daci Temple in Fengcheng. The following year, he fell slightly ill and foresaw the time of his passing. He repeatedly instructed his disciples and bid farewell to his benefactors. The next day, he said to his disciples, "The Thousand-Armed, Thousand-Eyed Great Compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva has come to welcome me. You should all respectfully greet her, for I am departing now." With these words, he closed his eyes and passed away peacefully at the age of fifty-nine.
